![]() But if you get a european copy, or the female version, "Cute", then you don't have to worry about it at all. Other games I'd recommend for somebody starting out may be Rune Factory 4S which is a spin-off (Switch, but there's an older version on 3DS), Story of Seasons DS/Cute (the copout for this one is that the male version, called "Harvest Moon DS" was super glitchy and you'd have to track down a later print of the game. It's not as deep but it's a very solid and satisfying gameplay loop. If you want a game that starts you off at full speed, almost, I'd say give Friends of Mineral Town a shot. The only thing to keep in mind is that all three of these games are huge slow-burns. I haven't played A New Vegining though, and I hear that game is also really good. While I've played Trio of Towns a bit more, I think SoS1 is my favorite of the three because of the setting and the subtle individuality of the characters in it. Out of these three games, Trio of Towns is the most in-depth in the long run, but SoS1 is probably the most experimental. In terms of an experience for a beginner in the series, I'd say start with one of those three unless you want to move away from the 3DS. You can only edit your farmbuildings, and with less maleability than the previous two games. Trio of Towns is also great, but they cut down on the sandbox. SoS"1" and A New Begining both give you the ability to treat your farm and the village as a sandbox for you to shift and edit as you like, as well as offering a more complex and, honestly, interesting gameplay for farmwork. I will be calling the "true" Harvest Moon games "Story of Seasons" regardless of the title on the game itself, and many others do too. If you haven't already, please aducate yourself in the Natsume-Marvelous split and which games are in which. Are you more interested in an expanded sandbox or an expanded farming game?
